Dicks Auto Group A Vital Member Of The Hillsboro Community

Dick InukaiDick Inukai, who founded Dick’s Auto Group in 1985, was born in a Japanese internment camp in Tule Lake, California. Many speculate that it was because of this experience that Dick was so passionate about working with local youth for many years later in life; he wanted to help give them a childhood he never had. Today, Dick’s legacy as a beloved and charitable member of the Hillsboro community lives on through his children, Shannon and Scott, who are now co-owners of Dick’s Auto Group. Learn more about the company’s continued community outreach efforts, and find out how we’re able to make them happen, below.

The Family-Owned Legacy Lives On

Many dealerships become large, public corporations in order to broaden the selection of vehicles on their lots, but Dick’s Auto Group is proud to have remained family-owned and operated through many years of business. This has allowed us to remain such a vital contributor to the Hillsboro community.

Working with the Boys & Girls Clubs

As part of his efforts to support local youth and education, Dick helped to expand the Hillsboro Boys & Girls Club in 2007 through fundraising and donations, successfully doubling its size and tripling the number of children who attend. It is now known as the Inukai Family Boys & Girls Club, offering multiple after-school activities and summer programs for children ages 6 to 18. Children have access to programs like “Character & Leadership,” “Education & Career,” and more, all aimed at encouraging their development and fostering their interests and skills.

Today, Dick’s Auto Group continues to support local youth development through the Inukai Family Boys & Girls Club, as well as through the Inukai Family Foundation, which awards educational grants and scholarships to local students and teachers.
